Mehrdad Iranshahi was born in Mashhad (Iran) 1974. He received his Pharm. D. (1998) and Ph. D. (Pharmacognosy, 2004) degrees from the Tehran University of Medical Sciences. He is currently associate professor of pharmacognosy at School of Pharmacy, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. His research interests lie at the interface of natural product chemistry and pharmacology, with focus on the discovery of biologically active natural products, particularly anticancer natural products. His new field interest is plant metabolomics and q-HNMR analysis. He is among 1% highly cited scientists since 2016.
Javad Asili (Pharm.D., Ph.D.), Professor,
Javad Asili (Pharm.D, Mashhad university of Medical Sciences, 1997; Ph.D in Pharmacognosy, Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, 2004). He started his career as Assistant professor in Department of Pharmacognosy of MUMS since 2004 and then head of department between 2009-2020. His research interests include discovery of secondary metabolites from medicinal plants especially in Lamiaceae family, plant tissue cultures and microorganisms and their biological effects like antibacterial, cytotoxic and antioxidant activities. As a specific line of research he has focused on isolation and identification of flavor and fragrance compounds especially as essential oil and volatile hazardous compounds in environment like water, foods, nutraceuticals, and fruits, biological samples and so on by liquid, headspace and SPME GC-MS.
Milad Iranshahy (Pharm.D., Ph.D.), Assistant Professor,
Milad Iranshahy received his Pharma.D. in 2011 and Ph.D. in 2016 from School of Pharmacy, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Mashhad, Iran. His main research interests are discovery of new bioactive natural products and evaluation of biological activity of natural products in different in vitro and in vivo models as well as clinical trials. He has authored over 40 research papers on biological activity of natural products.
Motahareh Boozari (Pharm D., Ph.D.), Assistant Professor,
Motahareh Boozari received her Pharm.D. degree in 2013 from School of Pharmacy, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences and her Ph.D. in 2018 from the Department of pharmacognosy, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Iran. She is currently Assistant Professor at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. She is interested in the field of phytochemistry, absolute configuration determination, phytopharmacology and cytotoxicity studies of herbal materials and natural products. In addition, she is interested in molecular docking study and virtual screening of natural products.
Abolfazl Shakeri (MSc., Ph. D.) Assistant Professor
Abolfazl Shakeri obtained his PhD degree in pharmacognosy from the Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. During his PhD project, he had the opportunity to spend several months in Italy focusing on the metabolite profiling based-LC-MS and isolation and characterization of saponins from an Iranian Glycyrrhiza species under the guidance of Professor Sonia Piacente. Since 2019 he is an associate professor of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry in Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Mashhad, Iran. His research interests include bioassay-guided isolation and structure elucidation (1D- and 2D NMR techniques) of novel compounds from terrestrial, marine and microbial natural products.
Maryam Akaberi (MSc., Ph. D.) Assistant Professor
Maryam Akaberi is a phytochemist, who completed a Ph.D. in Pharmacognosy with Prof. Seyed Ahmad Emami (Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Iran). She performed a post-doc by Prof. Matthias Hamburger on HPLC-based activity profiling of some endemic Iranian plants (Pharmaceutical Biology, Switzerland). She is now an Assistant Professor at the Department of Pharmacognosy of the School of Pharmacy in the Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (Iran). She was awarded as the top student in the research of the school of pharmacy (MUMS) in 2016 and 2018 and the top student in the research of Razavi Khorasan Province (Iran) in 2019. Her Ph.D. thesis was awarded as the top research project in the 2nd Iranian Pharmacognosy Olympiad held in Isfahan, Iran (2019), and won the travel grant for the 67th annual meeting of GA held in Innsbruck, Austria (2019). Her main research interests focused on plant metabolomics, and molecular networking and the search for bioactive natural products, lead discovery, and extract/compound libraries. She is mainly involved in the development of dereplication and de novo structure identification methods of natural products with LC techniques (LC-MS). |
